Scott Taylor, Ph.D., President
Scott Taylor established The Taylor Group in 1987. ?He has studied, taught, and practiced consumer/B2B research and public opinion polling for 40 years. ?From 1972-1977 he was a graduate assistant and subsequently associate director of the Eagleton Institute of Politics Center for Survey Research at Rutgers University. ?From 1977-1980, he taught American politics and survey research methods at Clark University in Worcester, MA, and was associate director of Clark’s Public Affairs Research Center. ?From 1980-1987 he was with Louis Harris and Associates in New York City, where he was senior vice president responsible for a variety of the firm’s research areas. ?Scott has a Ph.D. in political science from Rutgers University.?
Scott is a project leader by instinct and interest. ?He continues to lead many of the firm’s quantitative studies and moderates a substantial proportion of the firm’s qualitative research assignments. ?He has moderated over 2,500 focus groups in his career, and is shooting for 4,000 (well, maybe 3,500).
Jason LaMountain, Senior Methodologist
Jason has been with Taylor since 1991. ?Prior to that he was an analyst with The Yankee Group. ?He also worked with the Cores Corporation, a Tokyo-based consumer electronics and telecommunications research and consulting company.
Jason leads both qualitative and quantitative studies across categories, and he is the firm’s senior expert on advanced methodological issues.
He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a B.A. in international relations and Japanese studies.
Jason Grucel, Communications Director/Research Consultant
Jason joined The Taylor Group in 1998. ?Prior to that, he was the editor in chief of UNH’s student-run newspaper, “The New Hampshire.” ?He has also served as a correspondent for the Associated Press, the Gloucester (MA) Daily Times, the Nashua (NH) Telegraph, and the Concord (NH) Monitor.
After starting his career at Taylor as the firm’s staff editor, Jason began expanding his role, first by taking responsibility for corporate communications, and later by taking on the project leadership role of research consultant. ?Jason directs both qualitative and quantitative studies across a variety of categories, and leads the analysis and reporting for our largest C-level tracking study. ?He is also responsible for the development and production of the company’s marketing, media, public relations, and corporate identity; and he continues to lead the editing of all Taylor client-deliverable materials and documents.
Jason holds a B.A. in English, with a concentration in journalism, from the University of New Hampshire.
J. Scott Taylor, Client Services Director/Research Consultant
J. Scott joined The Taylor Group in 2006. ?He worked previously in television production—first as a production assistant at Northern Lights Post, a New York City production house, then as a freelance production assistant working primarily on large-budget commercials, and subsequently as an associate producer at NBC/Universal Television.
The son of owner Scott Taylor, J. Scott came to The Taylor Group with little market research experience outside of a summer internship as a high school student. ?He began working at the company as a project manager and has since worked hard to study and learn the business on the job. ?He currently leads qualitative and quantitative projects across a variety of categories. ?He is a RIVA-trained focus group moderator, directs much of the firm’s programming and data processing, has extensive quantitative analysis training, and leads the firm’s business development efforts.
He attended Roanoke College and continues to matriculate at the University of Southern Maine.
